Gillian Wang

Pianist, Conductor, Collaborator, Educator. Gillian Wang is a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Music with honours in Classical Piano - Music Education Specialist. She is now pursuing her Masters of Teaching at the Ontario Institute of Education Studies at UofT with a teachable in music, and is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).

 

Gillian's ambition for music education is also realized through various facets of her professional life. She teaches in her private piano studio, is the co-director of Hai Hua Children's Arts Summer Camp in Mississauga, and was previously a music teacher at Western Heights Montessori Academy. Engaging in these varied capacities, she fosters artistic exploration and nurtures growth within all her students, instilling a love for music and creativity. Gillian was also the apprentice conductor with Exultate Chamber Singer in 2023, and is now conducting the Junior Choir with the Brampton’s Children Chorus. Under her direction, the Junior Choir achieved high standings at Ontario Vocal Festival and will be performing at Musicfest Nationals in May 2025.

Gillian Wang has received numerous awards and scholarships for her contributions to music education, including the Kenneth & Helen Bray Scholarship (2022), is the two-time recipient of the Lobodowsky Choral Scholarship (2021, 2022), and the Arthur Plettner Scholarship (2020) at the University of Toronto. Gillian is also the most recent recipient of the Vernon Douglas McCaw Memorial Fellowship with the Toronto Children's Chorus (2023-2024). Gillian is also certified in Piano Pedagogy and Music Health by the University of Toronto with a Minor in psychology.
